When you move to a new state, you cannot keep a health insurance plan from your old state. To make sure you stay covered, report your move to the Marketplace as soon as possible. This way, you can sign up for a new plan and avoid paying for coverage that you won’t be able to use in your new state.
How to report a move to a new state
- When you move to a new state, your coverage options change. You may no longer be eligible for your current plan.
- New plans, prices and savings may be available to you.
- To get coverage in your new state, you’ll need to start a new Marketplace application or apply through your new state’s website (if your new state operates its own Marketplace).
- Obtain screen-by-screen download instructions, with images (PDF)Where Follow these steps.
